Description:
Scarce, High Grade 1859-S Dime
1859-S 10C AU55 PCGS. Fortin-101. The surfaces are toned an even steel-gray with some mottled gold and charcoal tones. The luster, while not full, is still seen in the protected areas. Nicely struck with only the slightest bit of wear with a few scattered marks overall. An elusive San Francisco issue that is even scarcer than its diminutive mintage of 60,000 pieces would suggest. A lengthy die crack nearly bisects the obverse. Population: 3 in 55, 4 finer (3/05).
