1864 Dime in MS66, One of Only 11,470 Pieces Produced1864 10C MS66 NGC. The removal of silver coins from active circulation during the Civil War explains the limited original mintage of this P-mint issue. This is a rare date, and the present Gem is one of only four MS66 examples known to NGC and PCGS (a single MS67 PCGS specimen is also know, 7/01). Untoned in the centers, the frosty surfaces are ringed in champagne-russet peripheral accents. Both sides are crisply impressed, bold clashmarks (as produced) are noted in the reverse field within the wreath.
From the Gulf Coast Collection. (NGC ID# 239M, PCGS# 4639)
