Description:
Scarce 1846 Dollar, MS64 NGC
1846 $1 MS64 NGC. Seated Dollars are quite scarce as a type, and the 1846 is no exception. The great majority of certified examples are in XF and AU grades, with only a small portion of the population in Mint State. Most of these grade MS61 or MS62, and have scuffy surfaces. However, this sharply struck near-Gem has modest luster, and the fields are free of the heavy bagmarks that often accompany the surfaces of Uncirculated Silver Dollars. The devices have light apricot-gold color, while the fields are steel-gray and lilac. Population: 6 in 64, 1 finer (2/05).(#6932) (Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 24YG, PCGS# 6932)
