Description:
Near-Gem 1847 Seated Dollar
1847 $1 MS64 PCGS. One of the finer examples we have recently seen of this date, the 1847 is relatively available in lower grades, but quite rare in the premium grades of Mint State. It is often seen heavily bagmarked which is the reason so many more pieces are known in lower BU grades. This piece has only a few trivial surface abrasions on each side that separate it from MS65. The few marks that are present are not enhanced by the coin's generally brilliant, untoned appearance. A noticeable grease mark is seen through the ES of STATES. Well struck throughout including complete head detail on Liberty and the eagle's plumage. Population: 6 in 64, 4 finer (6/05).(#6934)(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 24YJ, PCGS# 6934)
