Description:
1850 $1 AU50 NGC. Golden-gray toning. The devices have a texture intermediate between satiny and frosty, while the fields show substantial prooflike character. The strike is about average with softness noted at Liberty's hair and the obverse stars, but with sharpness at the eagle's claws and plumage. A mere 7,500 silver dollars were minted at the Philadelphia Mint in 1850, and nice AU examples such as the specimen offered here are always in demand. (Registry values: N1793) (NGC ID# 24YM, PCGS# 6937)
