Description:
1850 $1 AU53 NGC. Pleasing intermingled gold, lilac, and blue toning. The design elements are frosty and the fields show pronounced prooflike character. Many contact marks in the fields are in all probability "bag marks" caused primarily by having been jostled while in storage rather than any affect due to circulation. A mere 7,500 silver dollars were coined at the Philadelphia Mint in 1850, and survivors are eagerly sought in all grades.(Registry values: N1793) (NGC ID# 24YM, PCGS# 6937)
