Desirable Uncirculated 1850 Seated Dollar1850 $1 MS60 NGC. Breen-5443. Breen's Open 5 variety. Electric-blue and golden-brown patina graces this suitably struck and originally toned example. The fields are moderately abraded, as is appropriate for the grade. The 1850 has the lowest business strike mintage of any Seated Dollar issue up to that time, although the 1851 and 1852 dates have even lower productions. Substantial quantities of California-mined gold increased the relative value of silver, which flushed Seated Dollars and other silver coins out of circulation. Population: 5 in 60, 23 finer (3/04).(#6937) (Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 24YM, PCGS# 6937)
