Rare 1850 MS63 Seated Dollar1850 $1 MS63 PCGS. Breen-5443. The base of the 0 in the date is repunched, and there are die file marks below the 50 in the date. The obverse dies are perfect, while the reverse has faint die cracks (as struck) above the D in UNITED and between AM in AMERICA. The reverse die does not match the proof die characteristics listed by Bowers in his Silver Dollar Encyclopedia. Both sides have very attractive golden-brown patina. The strike is excellent. The fields are lightly abraded and have wispy handling marks. Only 7,500 pieces were struck, with most of the relatively few survivors in XF45 to AU55 grades. Uncirculated specimens are very rare.
