Highly Elusive Uncirculated 1850-O Silver Dollar1850-O $1 MS62 NGC. This is a very rare date in any Mint State grade and apparently most of the original 40,000 coined entered circulation and served hard time. On the obverse we note a very sharp strike, with all the stars showing their radial lines and the skirt lines on Liberty particularly sharp. The reverse is similarly well struck, with strong definition on the eagle's claws, feathers and the shield, save for a little softness on the eagle's neck. Die rust is seen in the fields on the obverse, with a raised lump in the field near the twelfth star, but more so on the reverse where numerous raised lumps are present, particularly below OF. We also note a number of small abrasions in the fields on each side, these perhaps accounting for the grade. Some mottled golden-brown color is scattered overall. As to rarity, the combined NGC and PCGS population reports 10 coins in this grade with just 7 pieces seen finer (6/05).
