Description:
MS62 1850-O Seated Dollar
Lustrous With Moderate Patina
1850-O $1 MS62 NGC. The 1850-O Seated dollar issue was only the second of the series for New Orleans, and the first since the 1846-O. Despite the generous-for-the-series mintage of 40,000 coins, most survivors today appear to have circulated heavily, leaving an average certified grade somewhere between XF40 and XF45. The present MS62 example is far finer, one of four submissions in this grade at NGC with four finer (6/12). The original surfaces are still bright with mint luster under a moderate-intensity layer of iridescent toning, with olive-green and sunset-orange predominating. The strike is fairly sharp and there are no overt marks, although a sprinkling of light field hairlines and tiny abrasions define the grade.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 24YN, PCGS# 6938)
