Description:
1852 Seated Dollar, XF40
A Budget-Oriented Example
1852 $1 XF40 PCGS. The term condition rarity usually applies to coins that are in such high grade that they are rarely encountered. However, the term can occasionally be applied to coins that are lower grades than usually seen. This 1852 Seated dollar is just such a coin, and it is likely to garner substantial bidding interest from a large number of Seated dollar specialists whose budget prevents purchasing a Choice or Gem Mint State or proof specimen. This piece is one of only eight examples that PCGS has certified below AU50, while 41 pieces have been graded in AU50 or finer grades, including business strikes and proofs.
This splendid example has delightful pewter-gray surfaces with trivial, inconsequential marks, primarily on the reverse. Light wear is only slightly evident. We must emphasize the importance of this opportunity.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 24YR, PCGS# 6940)
