1853 S$1 MS64 NGC....
Original Near-Gem Uncirculated 1853 Seated Dollar1853 $1 MS64 NGC. In his 1993 Silver Dollar Encyclopedia, Bowers notes that most (if not all) business strike 1853 Seated Dollars are the "Chin Whiskers" variety, whimsically named for vertical die lines (as made) below Liberty's chin. Well struck, since only the right obverse stars lack full centrils, and the central devices are exquisitely rendered. Gray and lemon colors embrace both sides. Generally unabraded, although the upper reverse field area has a couple of scattered milling marks. Only 46,110 pieces were produced, and Uncirculated survivors are very scarce. Population: 15 in 64, 3 finer (12/04).
