Significant 1855 Seated Dollar, MS61 NGC1855 $1 MS61 NGC. A significant offering for the advanced specialist, Bowers (1993) notes that the 1855 is one of the "sleepers" in the Seated Dollar series in all Mint State grades. Although NGC and PCGS have certified 34 coins in grades that range from MS60-MS64 (6/05), we would not be surprised is some (if not many) of these coins represent resubmissions. This is a particularly attractive representative of an issue that is often found with dull, lackluster features. Both sides display a frosty texture with a bright, silver-white sheen. Well defined by the standards of this type, the surfaces are free of sizeable distractions, although scattered bagmarks do confirm the MS61 grade. Population: 8 in 61, 11 finer (6/05).
