1857 $1 MS62 PCGS....
Toned 1857 Dollar, MS621857 $1 MS62 PCGS. David Bowers (1993) notes that the 1857 Seated dollar was used primarily in the China trade, and that "very few if any ... were used in domestic commerce." Smoky-gray patina is imbued with splashes of lavender and sky-blue on the obverse, and magenta on the reverse. Some localized strike weakness is noted, as is always the case for this issue. A few minor obverse marks do not detract. Housed in a green-label holder. Population: 20 in 62, 21 finer (7/07). (Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 24YW, PCGS# 6945)
