1860 $1 MS64 NGC....
Seldom Encountered 1860 Dollar, MS641860 $1 MS64 NGC. For the second year in a row, the Philadelphia Mint produced a sizeable number (217,600 circulation strikes) of Seated Liberty silver dollars in 1860. Despite the relatively high mintage, this issue is seldom encountered in either circulated or Mint State grades; many coins were sent to China and subsequently melted (David Bowers, 2006). The surfaces on this near-Gem coin display soft luster and are deeply toned in steel-gray patina accented with golden hues on each side. The design features are well impressed, and marks are mostly small and well scattered, although several reeding marks appear in the upper reverse field. Census: 16 in 64, 6 finer (10/09).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 24Z2, PCGS# 6949)
