Description:
Highly Collectible 1871-CC Seated Dollar
1871-CC $1 VF35 PCGS. One of only four CC-mint Seated Dollars, the 1871-CC boasts the lowest mintage (1,376 pieces) of all branch mint issues in this challenging series. Although it loses the top rarity title to the 1873-CC, the '71-CC is a genuinely rare coin in all grades with an extant population of perhaps 85-125 pieces. A bisecting swath of dark brown patina on the reverse interrupts the otherwise slate-gray coloration. There are scattered circulation marks, none of which stand out for the grade. The wear is even and the devices retain ample striking definition. Both the Carson City specialist and the Seated dollar collector would be wise to pay special attention when this coin crosses the auction block. (#6967) (Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 24ZH, PCGS# 6967)
