Description:
Superb Gem 1837 No Stars Half Dime
Perennial Type Favorite
1837 H10C No Stars, Small Date (Flat Top 1) MS67 PCGS. CAC. The 1837 No Stars half dimes are the first-year issues of a design subtype that spans only two years, including the 1838 No Stars that follows. But for completeness, half dime aficionados can collect four Guide Book varieties of 1837 half dimes, the Small Date and Large Date in the Liberty Seated design and the Small 5C and Large 5C in the Capped Bust series, since 1837 was also a transitional design year. This Superb Gem No Stars is mostly brilliant, although a slight hint of rose appears. The strike is sharp overall, full on the obverse but showing weakness at HAL in the central reverse. The open, cameolike fields of the No Stars half dimes make them a perennial type favorite. Population: 3 in 67, 1 finer (11/11).(Registry values: P6) (NGC ID# 232M, PCGS# 4312)
