1849-O H10C MS62 NGC. Only 140,000 pieces were struck of the 1849-O half dime. It is possibly scarcer than the mintage suggests as Breen believed that some of the coins entered under 1849 were actually dated 1848. Al Blythe went further by stating, "...specimens in higher grades (AU and above) are very scarce. Usually found in lower grades." Silver-gray surfaces display somewhat subdued luster, and splashes of gold-orange and blue toning. A light abrasion is noted on Liberty's neck, and a few more in the obverse and reverse fields. Census: 5 in 62, 11 finer (11/05).(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 233E, PCGS# 4344)
