Description:
Elusive Gem 1852-O Seated Half Dime, MS65 PCGS
1852-O H10C MS65 PCGS. The 1852-O started as a low mintage issue with just 260,000 pieces produced. Add to this the fact that many examples were melted during the economic turmoil of the early Gold Rush years and it becomes obvious why so few Mint State coins are extant. Richly and originally toned, the present Gem is bathed in mottled gray-brown patina over the obverse, the reverse is an even silver-gray color. The overall bold strike is free of criticism for an O-mint Seated coin, and neither side reveals any abrasions of note. Population: 3 in 65, 1 finer (2/04).(#4350) (Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 233L, PCGS# 4350)
