1864 H10C MS65 NGC....
1864 H10C MS65 NGC. The 1864 half dime is a key to the series. Although the Guide Book lists a mintage of 48,000 coins, it is believed the number may have been closer to 14,500 pieces, with Breen estimating 80-100 survivors. Few are known in high grades. This remarkably well-preserved example exhibits softly frosted mint luster, with areas of light golden-brown and rose toning. Both sides exhibit pronounced die clash marks, and the strike is strong overall in all areas except on the upper left portion of the wreath. A die crack appears between 3 and 4 o'clock on the reverse. Census: 13 in 65, 8 finer (1/13).(Registry values: N1793) (NGC ID# 234E, PCGS# 4384)
