Description:
No Drapery 1840-O Quarter, MS63
1840-O 25C No Drapery MS63 NGC. The 1838, 1839, and the 1840-O are the only three issues contained in the short-lived Seated quarter series that do not show extra drapery folds at Liberty's right (facing ) elbow. Along with the 1841-O, the 1840-O No Drapery was well represented in the New Orleans Hoard of 1982. Unlike the coins from this hoard, this piece has untoned surfaces. The striking details are well defined in all areas except the neck of the eagle. A few light abrasions are scattered about and are only evident with magnification. One of the more attractive 1840-O No Drapery quarters we have handled, regardless of grade. Population: 4 in 63, 7 finer (11/03).
