Conditionally Rare 1845 Seated Quarter, Toned MS64 Preservation

1845 25C MS64 NGC. Briggs 4-D. This coin was previously offered as lot 6275 in our September 1999 sale of the Larry Briggs Collection (part of our Long Beach Signature Sale), where it was cataloged as: "Proponents of originality really need to see this lovely near-Gem. The obverse displays deep, rich antique-copper toning that yields to electric-blue and pink overtones in the field before Liberty's left (facing) arm. While the reverse periphery displays similar antique-copper peripheral toning, we note that the color fades to gorgeous gold hues over the central area. The heavily frosted devices exhibit a crispness of strike that would do justice to a low mintage issue from the 1880s. In addition, the fields display unfathomable depth of reflectivity that imparts a beautiful prooflike finish. While there are a few wispy abrasions beneath the toning, this coin is temptingly close to a full Gem designation." Population: 11 in 64, with just four finer (10/02). (NGC ID# 23SV, PCGS# 5408)
