Description

Aesthetically Pleasing 1863 Seated Quarter Rarity, MS65 PCGS

1863 25C MS65 PCGS. Briggs 1-A. The Philadelphia Mint's delivery of Seated Quarters dropped to a mere 191,140 business strikes in 1863. This is a well struck year with Mint State survivors (particularly those from this die marriage) displaying razor sharp striking definition and bountiful mint frost. The problem for today's specialists is that there are not nearly enough high grade 1863-P Quarters to go around. Fully impressed with untoned, frosty-white features, the present Gem is moderately bright in the fields. There is essentially no toning, and no singularly distracting abrasions. This is the first MS65 example to appear in one of our Signature Sales since 1994. Population: 14 in 65, there are only six finer (7/02). (NGC ID# 23TX, PCGS# 5458)
