Elusive Choice Mint State 1872 Quarter Dollar1872 25C MS64 PCGS. An extremely important opportunity as this is an especially important date. Although 182,000 of these were originally coined in 1872, few have survived over the years, due to hoarding and melting, as well as general attrition. Today, Choice Mint State coins are quite rare, and finer quality examples are highly elusive. This example is a lovely piece with deeply toned surfaces and underlying luster. It is sharply struck with nearly full details on each side. The surfaces are satiny and reflective. Toned in shades of lilac-gray, sea-green, and golden-yellow. Population: 3 in 64, 2 finer (7/06).
