Description:
Gem 1872 Seated Quarter, Two Finer at NGC
1872 25C MS65 NGC. Sunset-orange and teal shades prevail on the obverse while the reverse is largely untoned with russet rim accents on this Gem 1872 Seated quarter. The small mintage of business strikes was 182,000 coins in the year before the Arrows and Rays design signified a negligible weight increase. This well-struck piece shows some interesting raised die striations on the lower reverse. Census: 5 in 65, 2 finer (8/11).(Registry values: P4) (NGC ID# 23UR, PCGS# 5481)
