Description:
Gem Toned 1876-CC Seated Quarter, MS66 PCGS
1876-CC 25C MS66 PCGS. Produced in record numbers (4.9 million pieces), the 1876-CC is the most readily obtainable Seated Quarter from this branch mint. Still, few examples grade finer than MS64, and PCGS has only seen a single coin above the present level of preservation. It is difficult for us to imagine a more attractively original '76-CC Quarter. Both sides are toned in overlapping swirls of antique-gold, lavender, and cobalt colors with isolated areas of near-brilliance on the reverse. The luster is full with a richly frosted texture, and the sharply struck features are free of bothersome abrasions. A few peripheral die cracks (as struck) are noted on the obverse. Population: 5 in 66, 1 finer (3/04).REx: Central States Signature Sale (Heritage, 4/02), lot 5555, which realized $7,762.50.
