Description

Memorable MS67 1877-CC Quarter

1877-CC 25C MS67 PCGS. CAC. In 1877, the fabled Carson City Mint produced a near-record 4.2 million quarters, second in quantity only to the 4.9 million pieces for the Centennial-year issue. Accordingly, collectors desiring a CC-mint quarter for type sets usually select either the 1876-CC or 1877-CC quarters to fulfill that purpose. The 1877-CC quarter production would be the Nevada facility's last million-plus-coin quarter emission, as the introduction of the Morgan or "Bland" silver dollar in the following year would reduce the manufacture of other silver coins to token levels in order to accommodate the flood of new cartwheels.
This splendid Superb Gem offers stunning, original amber-gold and cinnamon coloration on the obverse, with the reverse boasting peripheral tinges of ice-blue that contrast with lilac centers. Despite the moderate intensity of the colors, there is much luster radiating forth, producing a visual treat and a coin of exceptional beauty. Housed in an old green label holder. Population: 6 in 67, 0 finer (5/09).(Registry values: P2) (NGC ID# 23V6, PCGS# 5505)
