Description

Satiny Premium Gem 1881 Seated Quarter

1881 25C MS66 PCGS. Business strike quarter production amounted to just 12,000 pieces in 1881, all of which were struck in the Philadelphia Mint. This is an immensely popular issue among specialists, and the present Premium Gem is certainly among the finest coins extant. This is a smooth-looking, untoned example with an ice-white appearance. The finish is satiny, with bright fields in evidence on both sides. With the exception of one or two star centrils, the strike is sharp over all of the design elements. Attractive in all regards. Population: 14 in 66, 3 finer (8/06).
