Difficult Choice VF 1891-O Quarter1891-O 25C VF35 NGC. Briggs 1-A. After a gap of 32 years, caused by the Civil War and a mint preference toward Silver Dollars, the New Orleans Mint finally struck Quarter Dollars in 1891. Since the Barber design was introduced the subsequent year, the 1891-O is the sole Motto issue from the southern branch mint. Unlike the 1891-O Dime, the Quarter is very scarce, due to its small production of 68,000 pieces and a local indifference to mintmark varieties. This nicely detailed piece is higher grade than the typical 1891-O. The dove-gray centers are bounded by peripheral orange and aqua tones.(Registry values: P6) (NGC ID# 23VS, PCGS# 5525)
