Description

1917-D Type One Quarter, MS67 Full Head
Scarcer Issue Within the Subtype

1917-D 25C Type One MS67 Full Head PCGS. Whereas most of the 1917-P Type One quarters were struck with Full Head definition, only a minority of the 1917-D Type One issue was produced with the same amount of care. This is a truly gorgeous representative whose smooth, lustrous surfaces leave little doubt about the validity of the MS67 designation. The texture is richly frosted, and the focal features display the sharpness of strike that is necessary to receive a Full Head designation from PCGS. The surfaces are attractively toned in silver-gray shades, with mottled olive-russet accents around the peripheries joined by speckled light blue on the reverse borders. Population: 21 in 67 (1 in 67+) Full Head, 0 finer (8/13).
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2005), lot 2797; FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2007), lot 4139.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 2432, PCGS# 5709)
