Description

1917-S Type One Quarter, MS67 Full Head
Stunning and Fully Struck Example

1917-S 25C Type One MS67 Full Head PCGS. The Type One Standing Liberty quarters are a subtype that shows designer Hermon MacNeil's artistry to maximum advantage, and accordingly it is one that dedicated numismatists, including the present cataloger, never tire of viewing. "Full Head" seems so inadequate for a coin such as this, fully struck throughout both sides -- full hairline, full shield rivets, full gown details -- on and on, the attractions never cease. This Superb Gem Full Head 1917-S is the most difficult of the 1917 issues, one of only 10 in this top PCGS grade including two in 67+ (8/13). Daubs of pinkish-gray on both sides complement some pretty blue rim toning on the reverse margin. A stunning coin for type or Registry Set purposes.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 2433, PCGS# 5711)
