Very Scarce 30-Grain Bechtler Dollar
Radiant Near-Mint Example
(1831-34) G$1 C. Bechtler Dollar, 30G. AU58 NGC. K-1, R.4. The heaviest of three gold dollars from the Bechtler family, issued between 1831 and 1834 and credited as the first gold dollar struck in the U.S., albeit privately. This bright near-Mint representative has bold contrast between the pale golden color of the fields and the saturated reddish-violet copper hues around the lettering and devices. Census: 13 in 58, 13 finer (2/12). Listed on page 363 of the 2012 Guide Book. (PCGS# 10064)
