Description

1851 Humbert Fifty Dollar Octagonal AU50

1851 $50 RE Humbert Fifty Dollar, 880 Thous. AU50 NGC. K-5, R.5. Still-lustrous with tinges of reddish-golden color in the protected areas of the obverse. Abrasions are numerous, as is typically seen on this heavy chunk of territorial gold, with a few more bothersome obverse marks and corner bumps found scattered about. These large gold slugs, representing tangible evidence of the California Gold Rush over 150 years ago, are highly popular and collectible today. Listed on page 349 of the 2006 Guide Book.
From The Great Western Collection of Territorial Gold, Part Two. (PCGS# 10211)
