Rare 1852 Wass Molitor & Co. Five Dollars1852 $5 Wass Molitor Five Dollar, Large Head VF25 PCGS. K-2, R.6. Two periods beneath Co on the coronet confirm the Kagin variety. Softly struck, and some abrasions are distributed, but portions of the design (especially the date area) are crisp enough to suggest a finer technical grade. Although they were not the most attractive private gold pieces, Wass Molitor issues were reputable, and their bullion value often exceeded face. Listed on page 304 of the 2005 Guide Book. Population: 3 in 25, 5 finer (6/05).
