Attractive AU 1852 Humbert Octagonal Slug1852 $50 RE Humbert Fifty Dollar, 887 Thous. AU53 NGC. K-11, R.5. An impressive Octagonal Fifty Dollars that has noticeable luster across the wings, legends, and engine turning. Moderate wear on the shield and eagle's body demonstrates brief circulation. A minor pinscratch on the M in AMERICA, but overall, much less abraded than the typically encountered slug, which was regarded strictly as bullion for many years after its production. A couple of minor corner dings are as expected of the grade. Kagin-11 retains the obverse layout of Kagin-7, only the date has changed. The peripheral obverse legend was modified for the later 1852 Kagin-13 and 14 varieties. Listed on page 296 of the 2005 Guide Book.(#10217) (PCGS# 10217)
