Description:
K-18 900 Thous. 1853 Assay Office
Twenty Dollar, Lustrous AU55
1853 $20 Assay Office Twenty Dollar, 900 Thous. AU55 PCGS. K-18, R.2. This twenty dollar issue by the United States Assay Office forms a denomination-and-fineness bridge to the first double eagles of the San Francisco Mint, which were struck in 1854. Orange-kissed yellow-gold surfaces remain luminous despite light wear. The surfaces are moderately abraded, including reed marks below the free end of the obverse ribbon. Listed on page 380 of the 2013 Guide Book. (PCGS# 10013)
