Rare 1855 Wass Molitor Small Head Twenty Dollar1855 $20 Wass Molitor Twenty Dollar, Small Head VF25 PCGS. K-7, High R.6. A desirable mid-grade example of this interesting and seldom available Territorial. Both sides are peppered with tiny contact marks, these being interspersed with a multitude of dirty spots or stains that really only add the originality and the allure of this piece. The lack of detail over the central devices is more attributable to strike than wear. The undersized portrait surrounded by a vast expanse of fields closely resembles that used on the 1855 Ten Dollar, both in size and in design. In fact, the hubs used to prepare the dies were actually the same as those earlier used on the smaller denomination coins. A perusal of Heritage catalogs shows this to be only the sixth Small Head Twenty offered over the past decade. Listed on page 358 of the 2006 Guide Book. (PCGS# 10357)
