Description:
AU 1861 Clark, Gruber & Co. Ten Dollars
1861 $10 Clark, Gruber & Co. Ten Dollar AU53 PCGS. K-7, R.4. Luminous bright luster outlines the stars and connects the legends. Typically struck on the eagle's claws, this sunrise-gold Clark, Gruber & Co. Eagle has wispy slide marks on both sides and several faint but relatively lengthy pinscratches, most apparent on the central reverse. 1861 was the last year of coinage by the Colorado firm. Ingots were made in 1862, according to Don Kagin, but none have survived to the present day. Listed on page 309 of the 2005 Guide Book.
