Description:
1851 Humbert Fifty Dollar 880 THOUS Gold
1851 $50 RE Humbert Fifty Dollar, 880 Thous. VF30 Damaged, Repaired Uncertified. K-5, Low R.5. The obverse reveals extensive smoothing in the fields that is a semi-skillful attempt to lessen the effects of numerous heavy marks and scratches. These surfaces have also been rigorously polished in conjunction with the tooling, the result of which is not overly natural or appealing. If one is seeking an elusive Humbert slug without breaking the bank, this piece has all the heft without the big price tag. Listed on page 289 of the 2002 Guide Book. (PCGS# 10211)
