Description:
1874 Three Cent Nickel, MS66
Only One Finer Example at PCGS
1874 3CN MS66 PCGS. CAC. The 1874 three cent nickel was the only coin of this denomination produced that year, as the silver series was discontinued in 1873. A substantial mintage of 790,000 business strikes was produced, but few were saved for numismatic purposes. This impressive Premium Gem displays well-detailed design elements and bright mint luster under shades of champagne-gold and nickel-gray toning. Population: 11 in 66, 1 finer (2/13).(Registry values: N1793) (NGC ID# 2759, PCGS# 3742)
