Description

Premium Gem 1884 Three Cent Nickel
None Finer at NGC

1884 3CN MS66 NGC. Only 1,700 business-strike three cent nickels were struck in 1884, the second smallest regular-issue mintage of the series. In addition, few examples were saved by collectors in 1884, and the date has a low survival rate. In today's market, the 1884 is the most difficult issue of the series to locate, outdistancing the lower-mintage 1885. The 1884 is the key to the business-strike series.
The present coin is a delightful Premium Gem with sharply detailed devices and strong satiny mint luster. Intermingled shades of green and lavender toning blanket the unmarked surfaces. Eye appeal is outstanding. Census: 4 in 66, 0 finer (3/11).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 275F, PCGS# 3752)
