Key Near-Gem 1885 Three Cent Nickel1885 3CN MS64 PCGS. The 1885 three cent nickel is the low-mintage business-strike winner in its series, just as the 1885 Liberty nickel is in its. But the 1885 five cent nickel still saw a mintage approaching 1.5 million pieces, while the three saw a microscopic production of 1,000 coins in toto. As such, it is likely a vastly underrated issue, made so by relatively few collectors of the series. This near-Gem shows much luster over nickel-gray surfaces with generous eye appeal. Population: 16 in 64, 24 finer (9/11).(Registry values: N1793) (NGC ID# 275G, PCGS# 3753)
