Description:
1854 Three Dollar Gold, MS64+
First-Year Type Favorite
1854 $3 MS64+ PCGS. CAC. The gold three dollar denomination was struck for the first time in 1854, with a series-record business-strike mintage of 138,618 pieces. This issue is readily available in high grade today which, along with its first year status, makes it a favorite choice of type collectors. The present coin is a high-end Choice example, with sharply defined design elements throughout. The well-preserved surfaces display vibrant satiny mint luster and only a few minor signs of contact. Overall eye appeal is terrific. PCGS has certified 31 numerically finer examples (9/13).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 25M3, PCGS# 7969)

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
