Difficult 1871 Three Dollars AU551871 $3 AU55 PCGS. One of several very low mintage dates in the Three Dollar series, the 1871 has a minimal production of 30 proofs and 1,300 business strikes. This pleasing survivor has extensive luster, which occasionally emerges on the obverse field. Highpoint friction is very minimal, and the surfaces are surprisingly unabraded, save for a small tick on the lower cheek. Well struck aside from the 18 in the date. A minute trace of possible PVC is mentioned for accuracy. Encapsulated in a first generation PCGS holder.
