Description:

1875-S Trade Dollar, MS65
Frosty and Sharply Struck
1875-S T$1 MS65 PCGS. Type One Reverse. Large S. The new Type Two dies, showing the ribbon ends pointing downward (rather than left) and lacking a berry under the right (facing) eagle's claw, apparently arrived rather late in the year in San Francisco, and thus form a minority of the 4 million-plus Trade dollars struck there in 1875. This Gem is a superb type coin with largely silver-white surfaces complemented by a touch of iridescent patina, most prominent at the upper-left obverse rim. Frosty luster, a sharp strike, and a lack of mentionable marks put this piece among the finest survivors. A great addition to a type or S-mint set. Population: 24 in 65, 11 finer (4/13).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 2536, PCGS# 7039)
