1877 T$1 MS65 PCGS. CAC....
1877 Trade Dollar, Conditionally Rare MS651877 T$1 MS65 PCGS. CAC. The 1877 Trade dollar claims a mintage exceeding 3 million business strikes, many of which went into domestic circulation or were exported, helping explain why relatively few are known in mint condition. Gem and finer pieces are quite rare. The present MS65 offering displays a silver-white obverse that cedes to whispers of light tan and lavender on the reverse. The design elements are much better struck than usually seen on this typically weak issue, though Liberty's head and the adjacent stars are soft. We mention two minute round marks in the field just right of Liberty's right (facing) elbow and a few linear marks on the lower part of the left (facing) wing solely for identification purposes. Nevertheless, this is a nicely preserved example well deserving of the CAC label. Population: 7 in 65, 1 finer (10/13).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 253C, PCGS# 7044)
