Description

Toned 1875-S Twenty Cent Piece, MS65

1875-S 20C MS65 NGC. MPD-003. The primary purpose of the twenty cent piece was to make change in the West, where smaller denomination silver coins were scarce. Less than 4% of the total business strike mintage of the denomination was coined in Philadelphia, while more than 85% appeared out of San Francisco. The obverse has an original blend of ivory, gold, and steel. Most of the reverse has medium gold and rose toning with ivory luster toward the bottom.(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 23R7, PCGS# 5298)
