Description:

1945-S Half Dollar, MS67
Frosty and Conditionally Elusive
1945-S 50C MS67 PCGS. Knob S. Finding a nice Gem 1945-S Walking Liberty half will be an easier task than locating a comparable 1942-S, 1943-S, or 1944-S, but a Superb Gem 1945-S is truly a conditional rarity, a level where PCGS has seen only 13 submissions (with likely duplications thrown in). The frosty silver-white surfaces of this MS67 PCGS-graded piece show just a slight blush of toning, almost imperceptible. The head is decently well-struck, but the branch hand is weak, as usual on the issue. The reverse is a bit soft on the eagle's right (facing) leg but well-detailed elsewhere, and contact marks are at a minimum on both sides.(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 24SH, PCGS# 6626)

Bidding Guidelines and Bid Increments

The Draped Bust Half Dollars of 1796-1797 by Jon Amato

The Draped Bust Half Dollars of 1796-1797 by Jon Amato is the culmination of more than 10 years of research into the Draped Bust Small Eagle half dollar series, one of the most coveted type coins in American numismatics and one about which remarkably little has been written.

This work will be the premier reference for 1796-1797 half dollars for years to come. Institutions having an extensive numismatic library or coin cabinet will find it a valuable complement to their holdings, and catalogers charged with writing up specimens for auction can now have an indispensable source of background and pedigree information. Likewise, coin dealers seeking to purchase one or more '96 or '97 half dollars for a client or for inventory, and collectors who own, have owned, or desire to own one will want this important reference work for their libraries.
