Description

1937 Doubled Die Obverse Quarter, MS66
Tied for Finest Known

1937 25C Doubled Die Obverse MS66 PCGS. CAC. FS-101. Ex: Michael Fuller Collection. Very strong doubling is noted on the motto and digits of the date. As stated in the fifth edition of Cherrypickers' Guide, "This variety is considered one of the most important in the series." This Premium Gem is one of the two finest certified by either PCGS or NGC (11/12). The surfaces are smooth and virtually mark-free, and a bit of soft silver-gray patina has gathered overall. Worthy of a strong bid from an astute Washington quarter collector.
Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2004), lot 6360; Houston Signature (Heritage, 11/2007), lot 60853, where it brought $19,550.
From The David Poole Collection of Silver Washington Quarters.(Registry values: P1) (PCGS# 95803)
