Description

Richly Toned 1947-S Quarter, MS68
Tied With Two Others as Highest PCGS-Graded

1947-S 25C MS68 PCGS Secure. CAC. A gorgeous MS68 quarter, this coin is immensely lustrous with a wide ring of vibrant rainbow toning encircling each side. The rich gold and dark fuchsia colors on the reverse are particularly striking. The 1947-S is a low mintage issue, since only 5.5 million pieces were produced, and this high-grade example should be of great interest to the Registry Set collector. NGC has graded only two pieces as MS68 and neither PCGS nor NGC has certified an example in a higher grade, with this example one of only 3 PCGS-graded pieces at this level (11/12).

Thanks to Heritage I realized a handsome profit for my coin submissions and intend to send most of the remainder of my collection to Heritage Auction Galleries for future auctions.
